Dans le village palestinien de Battir, on dit souvent que chaque pierre renferme une histoire. Les derniers Jours d’Avril en sonde la plus connue, celle qui renferme sa légende. Avril 1949. L’armée israélienne est aux portes du village. Une poignée d’habitants décident de faire de la ruse une stratégie militaire.

In the Palestinian village of Battir, it is often said that every stone contains a story. The Last Days of April probes the most famous one, the one that contains its legend. April 1949. The Israeli army is at the gates of Battir. A handful of villagers decide to turn trickery into a military strategy.

“Battir a échappé à un destin funeste d’une manière inattendue, cocasse, trop invraisemblable pour être vraie. Et tout s’est joué durant les derniers jours d’avril 1949. Nous avons eu envie d’aborder ce moment décisif d’une manière plus libre et poétique, mélangeant vidéo et photo-roman animé, qui rendrait hommage à la créativité dont a fait preuve le village. A cette narration visuelle, nous avons ajouté une création sonore qui dialogue avec la poésie des images.”

“Battir has escaped a fateful fate in an unexpected way, too unlikely to be true. And it all came down to the last days of April 1949. We wanted to approach this decisive moment in a freer and more poetic way, mixing video and animated photo-novel, which would pay tribute to the creativity of the village. To this visual narration, we added a sound creation that dialogues with the poetry of the images.”
